Yvette Molina

Yvette Molina's celestial semi-spheres opt out of the traditional white canvas in favor of aluminum rounds. Referencing Petri dishes and crystal balls, they amplify an ethereal luminosity that penetrates her pseudo-worlds. With hyper-realized accuracy yet hallucinatory grace, Molina illustrates how visible seedlings can bud into invisible forces and networks. Molina's phantom greenhouses nurture raving gardens springing from dirt, waves, fog and atmospheres. Science becomes sublime as bacteria and pollen assume their aesthetically delightful forms. Humbly making synonyms of nature and art, Molina's works string together the natural and artificial, exposing the peculiar likes that germinate from both.

Oakland local Yvette Molina has displayed her work across the US and Japan at venues including the Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, HI; and the Legion of Honor and de Young Art Center, where she was an Artist in Residence. She studied painting at the University of Dayton, Ohio, and attended the Norfolk Institute of Art and Design, Norfolk, England, and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Angers, France.
